Homemade Caramel Apples

12 small Golden Delicious apples

12 wooden sticks

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter (real butter, not margarine)

2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 cup light corn syrup

1 14-oz can (1 1/3 cup) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)

Place sticks in stem end of apples. Melt butter in six quart saucepan. Be careful not to burn. Add brown sugar and corn syrup. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Add sweetened condensed milk. Bring to boil and stir constantly until candy thermometer reaches 240° F.

Dip apples in caramel and place on a greased cookie sheet.
